Australia is an iconic country with some of the most unique biodiversity on earth. Campers will meet dragons, pythons, monitor lizards, birds, and more animals that call Australia home.

Do porcupines and hedghogs shoot quills? Can a tarantula kill a person? Do snakes measure their food? Can turtles take off their shells?

We answer these questions and more as we dispel myths and learn the facts about some misunderstood animals.

The treetops are where many animals call home. Meet geckos, treefrogs, boa constrictors, interact with birds, and much more while we look up to meet Amazing Arboreals!

It’s Easy Being Green

March is (in theory) the start of green returning for spring, the green of St. Patricks Day, and a day to celebrate our green reptile animal friends.

Campers will meet treefrogs, pythons, iguanas, turtles, birds and more that are green. Learn about the purpose of their colours and how important being green is!

March 18 – Non CBE PD Day

Venomous Animals: Fact and Fiction

The word venom can cause concern and fear. However venomous animals have an important role on our planet. Campers will learn about venomous snakes, spiders, and scorpion and meet harmless animals as well as learn through photos and videos.

Reptiles in our Backyard

North America is home to a diverse population of reptiles, including right here in Calgary! Campers will meet native species like garter snakes as well as American animals like corn snakes, chuckwallas, tarantulas, boas and more. Discover conservation at home. (Also includes meeting mammals and birds.)

Colourful Creatures

Meet some of the bold and beautiful creatures at the nature centre! Brightly coloured birds, red, yellow and black milksnakes, albino animals, chinchillas and more.

Living Dragons

They may not breathe fire, but many lizards bring to mind images of mythical dragons! Campers will meet bearded dragons, water dragons, monitor lizards and more! Today doesn’t just feature lizards, we’ll meet some snakes that have dragon like scales as well as mammals and birds.

Beauties in Burrows

Underground is a safe place and home to millions of animals from millipedes and isopods to snakes and rodents. We will meet animals that love to burrow and lurk underground.
